What’s the difference between AEO and SEO? Do I need both?

SEO focuses on ranking your page in a list of links to drive clicks. AEO focuses on getting your brand cited within the AI-generated answer itself. Think of it this way: SEO helps you get discovered, while AEO helps you get selected when a user wants a direct answer. You still need SEO for crawlability and technical access—SEO provides the access, and AEO provides the answer. Many experts argue you shouldn't need AEO sold as a separate service, as it's largely an evolution of good SEO.
